October has almost come to a close.   This also means the end of my horror marathon.   Am I glad that it’s over?   You bet I am.   I went through a lot of crappy movies for that marathon.   I knew I was going to when I started because I planned to go through the Halloween series and the god awful Leprechaun series.   That was what I had planned.   The month took another turn after that. I finished those two series rather quickly.   It was only halfway through October.   At that point I decided that I might as well keep going with the horror movies.   What better way than to delve into two more series.   These would be the Piranha films and the Sleepaway Camp films.   Neither of those would be considered classics.   This took me down to a level of movie watching which I don’t feel I have ever been to before. It’s Halloween and what better way to welcome that day of the dead than to watch Trick ‘R Treat?   I watched it for the fifth time or so today, as part of my now yearly ritual of watching Trick ‘R Treat and Halloween. Trick ‘R Treat is a movie with interweaving stories all related to the day of Halloween.   It features such actors and actresses as Leslie Bibb, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker, and Anna Paquin.   It was written and directed by Michael Dougherty.   And it had the misfortune of being direct to video. It seems odd to me that this is a direct to video movie.   Do you want to know why?   I think everyone would love to hear my opinion.   My very very opinionated opinion.   It had a good overall story, it was well directed, it looked good, the acting was good...these are all things that I have yet to see a direct to video movie nail.   Until I first watched Trick ‘R Treat.   Everything is there. Do you want to know a scary thought?   Unplanned pregnancy.   When you aren’t ready to have a child and realize that one is on the way, you could have a lot of fear on your hands.   It could keep you up at night, as could the baby, of course.   But there is something scarier than that.   What if you thought your baby was wanted by a cult? In Rosemary’s Baby, that is what Rosemary believes is happening with her pregnancy. Rosemary’s Baby stars Mia Farrow, John Cassavettes, and Ruth Gordon among others.   It’s about pretty much exactly what I said before.   A woman named Rosemary gets pregnant and believes that a cult wants her baby.   It’s directed by Roman Polanski, the man behind such hits as The Piano, Macbeth, and getting away with pedophilia.   That’s right.   I’m not above a child molestation joke. I’m going to put it out there right now and say that I wasn’t a fan of Mia Farrow’s acting in the first half of the movie.   Second half, completely sold, and I think she’s a great

As October winds down November gets ready to begin.   That’s an obvious assessment, I know, even if the months can’t do something themselves.   November is the month where snow is supposed to start for the year.   It is when things get cold.   What better way to beat the cold than to grow out your mustache? Many people dub November as Movember.   In honour of Movember I am going to have a marathon of nine movies which will feature iconic or memorable enough mustaches.   These movies vary in genre, decade, and black and white to colour.   Here they are, in no specific order.
