The Racked Focus Review: Chronicle (2012)

Image
This past week, I was perusing Twitter when the account for The Racked Focus put up a link to Maxwell Haddad ’s review of Chronicle , hosted on their site.   I thought to myself, “Why look for a review to review, when they are making it so easy for me to find a review to review?”   So I decided that I would review this review of Chronicle .   That is exactly what I’m going to do. The review for the Josh Trank directed superhero flick went up on The Racked Focus on February 19, 2012.   That’s over a year ago.   The Racked Focus has been putting out good content for over a year!   As I already said, Max reviewed this one and what a review it is. I’m the kind of person who loves a good introduction.   This is because I’m used to having breezed through any essays that I needed to write in high school.   The introduction is the most important part of an essay because it hooks the reader in.   It’s the most important part of anything, since you always need to hook the reader

The Devil Inside (2012)

There are few movies that are as universally hated as The Devil Inside .   From the found footage style to the divisive ending, people have turned against the movie in a way that would never have been expected before the movie’s release.   Now, over a year after its release, there is a lynch mob against this movie.   There is some reason to this hate, but there are other reasons for which it deserves more credit than it gets. The Devil Inside is a horror movie from 2012, directed by William Brent Bell.   It stars Fernanda Andrade, Simon Quarterman, Evan Helmuth, and Ionut Gramma.   The basic idea behind the movie is that a woman killed a few people during an exorcism and was sent to an asylum in Italy.   Years later, the woman’s daughter goes to Italy to find out what happened the woman and if she can go back to America. I didn't want this picture, but there aren't too many pictures online. The opening sequence of the movie is rather interesting, albeit remi

Work Stories: Episode 13: I'm Batman

Previously on Work Stories, I told a tale of a kid that went for a ride down a hill and almost right into traffic.   Things like this happening bother me, which is why I shall tell a fluffier story today instead.   There isn’t much meat to this one.   It’s basically in three parts, all disconnected, but all about the same thing.   How about that? This is the second week in a row that my work story comes from working in the museum that I currently work at.   It is located right on one of the main tourism streets in the city, so I see a lot of odd things.   This is no different.   All three parts were odd, and all were related by the person I saw. Part 1.   I’m sitting behind the cash register on a calm summer night when I see an orange car pull up and park across the street.   It was a Ferrari.   The man driving it, who I couldn’t quite make out (this becomes important later), gets out of the car.   He puts a sign on the door and begins to charge people to take pictures in

The Racked Focus Review: Magic Mike (2012)

Magic Mike is one of those movies that some people really enjoy and others do not.   Maxwell Haddad wrote a review for the movie in which he said he liked some aspects and did not like others.   This was on June 29, 2012.   The review can be found at TheRacked Focus .   Now, I am not reviewing the movie.   I am reviewing Max’s review.   Let’s get to it, shall we? The review of Magic Mike that I found was a compelling read.   It took me about five minutes, and I’m not the fastest reader.   All five minutes, I was enthralled.   There was never a dull moment.   I wanted to know everything that Max had to say about the movie.   If there is one thing that can always be praised about a Maxwell Haddad review, it is that the review keeps itself interesting throughout its duration.   Each word resonates to create a delightful experience.   This is what I have come to love about reading Maxwell’s work. The Magic Mike review was relatively straight forward.   It was a general

JurassicGriffin Presents: Movie Talk on Sunday: Take 3

Sorry for the delay, ladies and gentlemen.   I’ve had some issues with time over the past week or so due to work.   I’ll also be the first to admit that I recently got addicted to The West Wing, which has consumed a lot of my free time.   Now I need to get the Movie Talk on Sunday train rolling for this week.   It’s my job.   I picked this as my time to host.   I must do by duty and give you guys some questions.   But first, I’m going to go into the background of Movie Talk on Sunday, like I usually do. The history can be found HERE or HERE or maybe HERE .   It will basically talk about how a man who goes by @raghavmodi wanted to make a movie talk, much like a travel talk he was doing at the time and might still be doing right now.   He teamed up with @askimrach .   The two of them created Movie Talk on Sunday, an event on Sunday where people discuss movies for an hour and a half.   It’s had its ups and downs over the time that this has been going on.   But #MTOS , as i
