Common Sense in Slashers and How that Relates to Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

A couple of weeks ago, I published a post for the Sunday “Bad” Movies that was related to the movie Friday the 13 th : A New Beginning .   In that post, I wrote about how the big three slasher franchises had evolved through the addition of humour or a deepened mythology.   This week’s post was prompted by a movie in one of the other big three franchises that also tried to evolve its respective series.   This movie is Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers , the sixth movie in the Halloween franchise. In relation to that post, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers is part of the mythology deepening era of the Halloween franchise.   All of the movies, outside of the unrelated third installment, have some sort of historical importance to the sixth movie.   Whether it be the relationship between Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis (introduced in the first film and present through all of the others), Jamie Lloyd (introduced in the fourth and present since then), the man in black (introd

Work Stories: Episode 47: The Leaning Pole of Not Piza

Previously on Work Stories, I told all of you about the time that I burned my finger while changing a light.   That was a painful memory to write about, mostly because it hurt physically when I did it.   It hurt a lot.   The time I spent with my burned hand was not a fun time.   I’ll try and make this week’s Work Story a little bit more fun than that one. This is another museum story.   I have a lot of them.   I still work at the museum, so I’m constantly gaining potential stories to write for the bunch of you.   This one is from some time last year.   I forget exactly when it happened, but I know it was about a year ago. I had a daytime shift at work.   It’s not something that I usually get.   I’m lucky to get one every two weeks.   I’m usually put on the nighttime shifts, working well into the dark.   It’s something that I have grown accustomed to.   I wake up around noon, fart around my house for a while, go into work at four or five, depending on what the schedule says

One of my dad’s favourite past times is going to yard sales.   He likes the thrill of hunting for cheap, second-hand goods of any and all kinds.   I don’t share that love, but I do appreciate some of the things that we end up with.   The reason that there is a Playstation 3 in this house is yard sales.   We’ve had an uncountable number of lawnmowers, bicycles, and small tractors from yard sales.   We have even had a baseball pitching machine because my dad got it for cheap.   Obviously, since this the Sunday “Bad” Movie post for this week, I end up with a lot of movies that were purchased for a minimum amount of money as well. About two years ago, my dad came home with a DVD containing four horror films.   He bought it for a dollar thinking that I would like the movies.   The movies included Night of the Living Dead (which I have about five copies of, since it’s included in so many sets), Razor Eaters , Hindsight , and this week’s movie, Cruel World .   I thought I might be
